Veterans Day Parade

We have nine (9) Radio Amateurs signed up to provide auxiliary communications support to the Leavenworth Veterans Day Parade Committee for the 2022 parade on November 11, 2022. This year’s parade has more entrants than we’ve seen in a long time. It will be a great day and should have a large turnout by government officials, including the governor, military leadership, including the new Commanding General of the Combined Arms Center & Fort Leavenworth, and organizations from school marching bands to fraternal organizations. It takes a lot of coordination on parade day and that’s where we come in.

We have the number of operators we need. We even have three (3) additional Radio Amateurs who are marching in the parade. But, if you want to participate or monitor the action, contact the Emergency Coordinator and he’ll put you on the distribution list. The Event Plan is nearly complete and we need to finalize it by Nov 9th so let the EC know well before then if you want to be added.

Activities begin as early as 0700 hours but the actual parade start is 1030 hour. Taps at 1100 hours. Then a fly-over. The parade ends when the last the 200 or so entrants in the parade cross the finish line.
